When my husband and I started our search for our first home, we thought that our Prudential Realtor would make things easy, and it would be fun process.  Well, three months into our search, we both felt disillusioned and very dissatisfied.  We weren’t comfortable with our original Realtor, he didn’t answer much of our numerous questions, and he showed us homes that were either beyond our reach, inhabitable, or located in towns that we weren’t interested in living in.

We were about to give up, when I happen to search the web one day and found a home that I had hoped would still be available.  The house was listed under RE/MAX, and I immediately contacted Anitra Montgomery.  I was very impressed with Anitra; she answered all of our questions, and she managed to calm our anxiety about the home-buying process. 

At our first meeting with Anitra, she explained in detail the home-buying process, and she even provided us with a step-by-step grid of the entire process, which became our handy road map to purchasing our home.  It was simple, easy to understand, and we knew exactly where we were at all times during the process, as well what to expect.  During our first meeting, we went to look at the houses she had arranged for us to see; her knowledge of the area that we were interested in was impressive as well.  She listened to what we were looking for in a home and understood our needs.

We found our first home!  We made an offer, it was accepted & we are on our way!  We loved the house from the minute we walked into it.  We truly felt it was meant to be "our home."  And, while the paperwork was drafted and ironed out, and we waited for the closing, Anitra was still there to answer any/and all of our  questions, ease our nerves, and she would call me every Monday morning to check in and make sure things were ok.  The calls alone spoke volumes about Anitra’s professionalism, dedication, and commitment.  The nerves and anxiousness that we went through was overwhelming at times, however, we can honestly say that our first home buying experience was an unforgettable and exciting experience and this was because of Anitra.

During a general conversation with my brother George, who is in the real estate business and concentrates on selling homes, I mentioned that I was going to sell my condo. I also mentioned that I was going to sell it myself and pocket the money a realtor would get. He advised me that this would be a bad choice because the customer would be looking for a lower cost since they knew I would not be paying a commission. Since I did not listen to him when he advised me not to purchase time shares, I concluded I would follow his suggestion. He is licensed in VA but said he would introduce me to highly qualified individuals in New York and I could select the one I was interested in. He advised me that all of them would be in the 100% club (which means they closed a minimum of 100,000 in commissions the previous year) and he gave 4 individuals.

One day, I sat down and made appointments with each of the potential realtors. The realtor I eventually selected, was very personable and appeared to be extremely knowledge and also appeared eager to visit with me to pursue the challenge. In fact she requested the opportunity to drop off her portfolio the same day to give me ample time to review it prior to our appointment which was a week later. In less than an hour, she dropped the packet off and there was no attempt to make another pitch for the business or an advance opportunity to see the property.

The portfolio was very impressive and very informative. In fact I immediately found out why my brother was so persistent in me selecting a realtor. I used her information to assist me in interviewing the other realtors.

I signed an agreement with Ms. Anitra Montgomery. I could not overlook her presentation, professionalism and information provided me that never crossed my mind.     

Ms. Montgomery immediately began working to get the property on the market and in fact a few days later people wanted to see the property even though I was not ready to show it but got me on the ball in preparing the property for showing. The pictures taken and description of the property were presented very well. She suggested that I join her to look at other properties in my complex to get a feel of what the competition was like. She had several open houses to show the property. Perhaps the most impressive part of all of this is her weekly follow-up and more when necessary. Each Monday she would call me and give me tidbits about other properties selling or sold in my complex and surrounding areas and any other news about my property.  She would prepare me to begin thinking about possibly reducing the price given the housing market. What was going on with the banking industry and of course sometimes disgust me when customers would low ball me although she promised she would bring all offers to me regardless of the price.

Once we had a contract, Ms Montgomery acted as a messenger to help expedite the process. She kept abreast of the movement of the loan officers, banks, lawyers and buyer and made many recommendations to move the process. I assure you things would not have gone as smoothly and as rapidly without the assertiveness of a very professional and competent realtor, Ms. Anita Montgomery.
